September 2015 in Europe is characterised by deadlock. Yazan is in Austria, near the southern city of Graz, in a camp set up by the Red Cross, and although he’s always thought of Germany as his final destination, confusion is in the air. His family is worried and his mother wants him to stay put, avoid more risks —but he insists that he wants to continue. Croatia and Serbia crack down on migrants trying to cross its borders, and “The Jungle” – a refugee camp in the French town of Calais – continues to grow with migrants trying to enter England illegally.
The uncertainty of this situation gets to Yazan; he needs to decide fast where to go next: Austria, Sweden, Germany, there’s lots of rumours about papers, waiting processes, detentions and even jail.
